The scenery is a natural beauty. Brown rocks, wild vegetation and the fine grain sand towards the end of the river create a memory you’ll never forget. The tip of the place is the boats which are colourful and if you’re lucky, you may see some fishermen getting ready to go out in the waters.
The Liopetri’s river is called the little “fjord” of Cyprus as is a narrow strip strip of water created by the accumulation of rainfall from the surrounding area creating a constant flow of water into the sea.
The river seemed to be used a quarry. In the medieval era was an anchorage and in the 18th century was used for exporting agricultural products to the neighbour countries.
Nowadays it’s mostly used for fishing. Near the river there are some taverns where you can enjoy some fresh sea food while looking at the colorful scenery.
